A Parent Who Feels Slighted

Mary, who is divorced and lives alone, likes to hear the live voice of her daughter, Vivienne. Viv is careless about returning calls—or texts or emails. Mary knows that her successful daughter is very busy, but she can’t help but feel slighted.  She is reduced to checking in on her via her Facebook page, an action she prefers not to think of as spying. Is there any way Mary can bridge the communications gap with Viv? What’s worked for you?
