It’s always Mother’s (and Father’s) Day at Parents of Grown Offspring, but we’re sending particularly heartfelt thanks to mothers of adult children as their big day approaches. Here’s to you for all you’ve done and continue to do for your families.
We kick off this post with a thoughtful and thought-provoking piece from an adult daughter who has gained a new appreciation of her mother as both an artist and a person. I call it A Mother’s Day Tale: It Took Decades to See Who her Mother Really Was.
On a more practical level, I pass along some ideas for making May 13th something special. Beyond the Bouquet: 10 Unusual Things to Do with your Kids on Mother’s Day will get your creative juices flowing.  Feel free to drop broad hints and, if your brood is not in town on May 13th, you can always take an I.O.U.
Finally, I am pleased to share a poignant poem about a Mother’s Day that was far from celebratory. Even if you haven’t had this experience yourself, your heart will go out to the mother in Flowers and Empathy.

Hoping your Mother’s Day is a good one!
